Show 6: Citizen

Please exercise your citizenship by voting this November 7th.

************************************************

In light of the next week's elections, this show looked at citizenship. Who gets to be a citizen? How do people contribute to society? And, how important is it to participate in a community? We visited the Greater Boston Food Bank (www.gbfb.org), where volunteers were showing their good citizenship by donating their time to help the hungry. We witnessed a ceremony for people who were gaining their American citizenship. And, we had two guests who discussed the efforts of their organizations to raise support for important causes. Melanie Takefman talked to us about the New Israel Fund (www.nif.org), and Hila Lipnick told us about a Jewish youth service group called Telem (www.telemyouth.org).
